Are you up for an adventure of a lifetime? This is where you will find it, at Steyn Africa Safaris. A hunting trip, game drives, personalized safari adventures, they offer it all and more. My husband went for a hunting trip, and then we came back together. It's truly an incredible place where you will have an experience like no other. At the lodge, the accommodations and service are more than five star worthy. You are treated as royalty with chef prepared meals, daily room service, laundry service and the friendliest people who's smiles light up the room! Gerard and Jo-anne are so genuine and kind. They truly want you to experience their country and love it as much as they do. This is an authentic, amazing experience that has drawn us in to keep coming back.

I went to South Africa on a hunting trip of a life time and left with Gerard and Jo-Anne as FRIENDS for a life time. Not being too sure of what this trip was going to be upon my arrival, I can say it exceeded all of my expectations. The accommodations at Steyn Africa Safaris is equal to or better than a 5-Star resort. The excellent services include daily room service, laundry, amazing food and friendly staff. The staff goes above and beyond and is always willing to help and make sure that you have everything you need while putting their personal touch on things that create a special place and a special experience. . The hunting was spectacular! Gerard and his staff know their animals and show a genuine concern for their well being.. This is not a job to them it’s their life and their passion for it is infectious. This is not just a hunting expedition it’s an experience that has changed my life and I plan to return in 2027 and for years to come.

Steyn Africa Safaris made my family's South African dreams come true. The staff are so friendly that you immediately feel like family. You can tell that they genuinely care about their clients and strive to pass on their love for the land and wildlife to their clients.

I booked the Ultimate Hunting package with Steyn African Safaris, for me and my wife. We were picked up at the airport by Mr. Steyn, and taken to the lodge. We spent 7 days on Safaris, did everything from game drive to hunting. It is my opinion that Mr Steyn is one of the best PH I have ever met. He is extremely knowledgeable about the animals. He tries to help teach you about all the animals you will encounter. The stay at the lodge was amazing, and made even better by the staff who took care of all our needs. The cheif was great and made 5 star meals everyday for us. If you want a true African Safaris trip, I recommend them hands down. The only complaint is that we had to leave to go back to the states. But, I will be going back next year to Steyn African Safaris.

My son and I traveled there in May of 2025. We flew from Atlanta to Johannesburg, which was a long flight! But when we go through customs, Steyn Safaris was waiting there for us! They took us to their lodge which is a few hours away. We went to bed that night and awoke the next day to a beautiful lodge and friendly staff. The food was excellent, prepared by a chef. In addition, we had professional hunters walk us through how we would approach each animal for our hunt. The hunts were exciting, as we saw many different kinds of animals, many of which I had only seen in a zoo or television. During the trip we learned about the local culture, conservation, ecology, and flora and fauna. In addition to fun, it was educational. I cannot wait to go again with my wife this time. I am 58 and my son is 25, and it was the best trip we have ever been on. I am a hunter, but my son was on the fence about it. This trip turned him on to hunting. It was well worth the money.

The lodge is fantastic, with outstanding daily meals. I rode in the land cruiser with Gerald and saw a beautiful landscape with herds of animals. The hunting was fantastic . we are planning our next trip to be with Steyn safari . Jo-anne made my wife's excursions to see cheetahs, lions, zebras, and elephants very special, thank you

My Africa trip was a trip of a lifetime will never be forgotten. There is so much to say about it. First of all I’d like to thank steyn and Joanne for making this trip amazing. They are amazing people that truly care about their guests and their experiences. They make sure each person gets their unique experiences and dedicates a lot of time to make sure their guests are enjoying themselves. When I first heard I was getting the getting the opportunity to go to Africa I was so excited and couldn’t wait. Finally the time came at the end of march of this year we all packed our things and started the longgg but worth it journey to Africa. It was the first time I had ever been on a plane. Once we finally landed in Johannesburg Africa steyn and Joanne we waiting for us at the airport with the biggest hellos. So they picked us up from the airport and took us to their place that had a separate lodge for guest to stay in. The lodge was beautiful and spacious. My cousins Reagan James and I were so excited that we did not go to sleep that night and waited for the sun to rise when we could hear all the birds singing and got to look at the beautiful view of the land. As our grandma and Lionel were sleeping my cousins and I were exploring all over from inside the lodge to outside and we were just amazed by ever single thing. Then steyn came outside and greeted us and we were still waiting for grandma and Lionel to wake up so steyn took us on a little joy ride to go look at all the different kinds of animals. And holy were there lots and they are beautiful. I was just in awe of everything I got to see. Once we got back to the lodge they had awoken and there was a huge breakfast awaiting for us and it was delicious. They have a private chef that cooks for all the guests. The one thing I was worried for was the food because I have a bad gluten sensitivity whete I cannot eat gluten or I’ll become sick. Once I had mentioned that to the chef he made sure at every meal I had a gluten free version of it and it was awesome to see that. The food is absolutely amazing and they are very accommodating. Then we got to explore the town a bit and got a tour of the taxidermy and the farm. Later on came the hunting. That was the most exciting part. All of us cousins had a blast going hunting. It was the best hunting experience you can possibly have. I got to hunt an impala, a white blesbuck and a spring hare. As you are hunting steyn is with you at all times. he helps track the animals and tells you everything you need to know. While my cousin James was hunting his impala with steyn the rest of us was in the truck with Joanne driving it we decided to park the truck and wait. While we were waiting a couple animals decided to pay a visit. The ostriches. To me they are very scary they decided to start chasing me when Reagan and I were in the box of the truck so Joanne started driving. My family thinks it’s so funny because I was freaking out while they were chasing me but leaving my cousin Reagan alone. I think at one point I was pretty much in Reagan’s seat. But I’m glad to say that I made it well but definitely a new fear of ostriches and to this day my family still makes fun of me for it. It was definitely a new experience for me. There were also multiple different activities we could do like go to an elephant sanctuary and interact with them. In our down time we either could go rest up or we could play games of pool darts or even go swimming in the pool. There was never a boring or dull moment. Near the end of our trip we got to go sight seeing and watch the sunset which was beautiful. On the last night of our trip Joanne had put together an amazing slideshow for us with all the pictures she had take of us on our trip. She take such beautiful pictures. We also were given a usb drive so we could keep all the pictures as memories. We were also all given a keepsake as a gift. I am so lucky to have been given the chance to go to Africa and it had been the best time ever. I definitely want to go back hopefully sooner rather then later

Very pleasant experience! Went hunting with a few friends in May 2022 and was pleasantly surprised with the whole operation. There is decent accommodation with swimming pool, boma(braai area) and Lapa with pool table. Gerhard and he's team is very friendly and helpful. Willing to do anything to make youre experience one to remember. One stop shop. Gerhard also owns the Butcher shop on Vaalwater so they did all our meat processing for us. I would like to thank you and you're team again I would definitely come back!
